Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and France’s Safran Electronics & Defence have finalized a major joint venture to manufacture the HAMMER precision-guided air-to-ground weapon in India. The 50:50 partnership supports the Make-in-India and defence indigenisation goals by enabling phased technology transfer and targeting up to 60% localisation. Designed for aircraft like Rafale and LCA Tejas, the HAMMER offers high accuracy, extended range and modular capabilities. The JV will supply and maintain the system for the Indian Air Force and Navy, strengthening India–France defence cooperation.
