  • Noted yakshagana Bhagavat, Balipa Narayana Bhagavatha died at a private hospital in Moodbidri of Karnataka. 
  • He was 85.
  • He had served in the yakshagana field as a noted Bhagavat for about 60 years. 
  • He has 30 published and 15 unpublished Yakshagana prasangas to his credit.
  • He was duly recognised as the Bheeshma of Thenkuthittu style of Yakshagana.
  • He was the chief bhagavat of Kateel Durgaparameshwari Prasadita Yakshagana Mandali (Kateel Mela).
  • Bhagavatha had entered the yakshagana field at the age 13. 
  • He had created a five-day ‘Devi Mahatme’ prasanga, which was a significant milestone in the history of Yakshagana literature.
  • He had bagged Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 2010.
