  • World Standards Day is celebrated every year on 14 October.
  • This day is celebrated every year to express gratitude for the combined efforts of thousands of experts around the world who voluntarily develop technical consensuses, which are published as international standards.
  • This day is organized every year by three institutions international standardization bodies, International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
  • The Indian Standards Institute was established in January, 1947.
  • The Bureau of Indian Standards came into existence in the year 1987 after an Act passed by the Parliament.
  • The International Organization for Standardization was established in February, 1947.
  • The headquarters of this organization is located in Geneva.
  • The theme of World Standards Day 2023 is 'Shared vision for a better world: embedding Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3) for good health and well-being'.
  • SDG 3 relates to good health and well-being.
