·         World Rhino Day is celebrated globally on 22 September every year. The day provides an opportunity to cause organizations, NGOs, zoos and members of the public to celebrate rhinos in their own unique way.

 

·         The day is observed to raise awareness about the need to protect all five existing species of rhinoceros, which are: Black Rhino, White Rhino, Greater One-horned Rhino, Sumatran Rhino and Javan Rhino.

History of World Rhino Day

v  World Rhino Day was first declared in 2010 by the World Wildlife Fund-South Africa and has been celebrated internationally since 2011.
