World Kidney Day 2026 was observed on March 12, drawing global attention to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). The theme — 'Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet' — highlights links between kidney health and environmental factors like pollution, heat, and unsafe water.
Jointly launched by the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations, the campaign stresses early detection. CKD affects approximately one in ten people worldwide. Prevention tips include staying hydrated, monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar, and limiting salt intake.
