  • This conference will be inaugurated by Union Fisheries Minister Purushottam Rupala.
  • The conference will be held to celebrate the contributions and achievements of fishermen and fish farmers and other stakeholders and to strengthen the commitment towards sustainable and equitable development of the fisheries sector.
  • At present India is the third largest fish-producing country in the world.
  • Apart from this, India is the second-largest aquaculture producer, largest shrimp producer and fourth-largest seafood exporter.
