World Cities Day is celebrated every year on 31 October to make cities pollution free and inclusive.
A resolution to celebrate this day was passed by the United Nations General Assembly in the year 2013.
This day was celebrated for the first time on October 31, 2023.
The theme of this day for the year 2023 has been 'Financing a sustainable urban future for all'.
World Cities Day is an initiative to help address challenges related to urbanization by bringing together all stakeholders in local and global urban development.
Sustainable Development Goal number 11 relates to sustainable cities.
