  • On December 1st, the world commemorates World AIDS Day.
  • Its goal is to raise awareness about Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and the factors that contribute to it.
  • AIDS is caused by the spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, which attacks a person's immune system. It is a severe disease that impairs humans' ability to fight infections.
  • The theme of World Aids Day 2021 is "End Inequalities. End AIDS."
  • Thomas Netter and James W. Bann came up with the idea for World AIDS Day in August of 1988.
