World AIDS Day: 01 December

On December 1st, the world commemorates World AIDS Day.
Its goal is to raise awareness about Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and the factors that contribute to it.
AIDS is caused by the spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, which attacks a person's immune system. It is a severe disease that impairs humans' ability to fight infections.
The theme of World Aids Day 2021 is "End Inequalities. End AIDS."
Thomas Netter and James W. Bann came up with the idea for World AIDS Day in August of 1988.
