Every year, August 26 is celebrated as Women’s Day across the world.
On this day, in the year 1920, the United States passed the nineteenth amendment to permit women the legal right to vote.
Women around the world have always fought for the rights they deserve to bring the social changes required for a better future.
The 19th amendment was first introduced in the year 1878. Observing women’s role during World War 1, the rights of women acquired massive support.
This movement shook the entire world and created a buzz in countries like Finland, the United Kingdom and New Zealand regarding voting rights for women.
Women's Equality Day makes us realise the hurdles faced by women in the past and understand the role played by them in changing the world.
The theme of this day is ‘Hard Won Not Done’, which signifies that the gender equality struggle is not yet over.
