Vodafone Idea’s (Vi's) board of directors have appointed the company's Managing Director and chief executive officer (CEO) Ravinder Takkar as the company’s new chairman.
Takkar will replace Himanshu Kapania on August 19.
Takkar, a nominee of the Vodafone Group, is a telecom industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience.
Takkar was also the Chairman of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) for two years.
Last month Vi had announced that its chief financial officer Akshaya Moondra would replace Takkar as the telco’s new CEO.
That was then the third top-level change in under four years at the loss-making telco, which has been fighting to turn around its operations amid a severe cash crunch.
