Vineet Kumar Goel, a senior Indian Police Service officer, has been named the new Commissioner of Kolkata Police.
He will take over for Soumen Mitra, who is retiring on December 31.
Vineet Kumar Goel is a 1994 batch IPS officer who previously worked as the Additional Director General of Police in the State Police's Special Action Force. He will be the 44th Commissioner of Police of Kolkata.
