Vikram Misri, a senior diplomat of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and current Deputy National Security Adviser, has been appointed as India's new Foreign Secretary, succeeding Vinay Mohan Kwatra.
Misri brings extensive diplomatic experience, having served as India's ambassador to key countries including China, Spain, and Myanmar. His tenure as ambassador to China was particularly noted for his role during the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes.
Born in Srinagar and educated at Delhi University and XLRI, Misri began his diplomatic career with postings in Brussels and Tunis. He has also served as private secretary to three Indian Prime Ministers, showcasing his strategic acumen and diplomatic proficiency.
