  • Renowned Marathi Lavani singer Sulochana Chavan has died at the age of 92 in Mumbai due to age-related ailments.
  • Sulochana Chavan, 92, was a Padma Shri recipient.
  • Known as 'Lavani Samradnyi' (Queen of Lavani), Sulochana Chavan was one of the most well-known singers in this traditional Maharashtrian musical genre closely associated with the folk theatre form Tamasha.
  • She was honoured with the Lata Mangeshkar Award, instituted by the Government of Maharashtra, in 2010. She was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2012.
