Renowned Marathi Lavani singer Sulochana Chavan has died at the age of 92 in Mumbai due to age-related ailments.
Sulochana Chavan, 92, was a Padma Shri recipient.
Known as 'Lavani Samradnyi' (Queen of Lavani), Sulochana Chavan was one of the most well-known singers in this traditional Maharashtrian musical genre closely associated with the folk theatre form Tamasha.
She was honoured with the Lata Mangeshkar Award, instituted by the Government of Maharashtra, in 2010. She was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2012.
