Farooq Nazki, aged 83, passed away at a hospital in Katra, senior journalist and Sahitya Akademi awardee.
He had held several important positions in All India Radio Kashmir and Doordarshan.
In 1995, he received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his poetry book 'Nar Hutun Kanjal Vanas'.
He had worked as media advisor to Farooq and Omar Abdullah.
