  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency Varanasi will become the first begging-free city in the country.
  • The city's Beggars Corporation is taking initiative to free the city from beggars.
  • For this he has appealed that a reward of one thousand rupees will be given for bringing a beggar to the institution.
  • The aim of the Beggars Corporation organization is to rid Varanasi of begging by March 2027.
  • A 100-day citizen awareness campaign has been started to create a beggar-free city.
  • It appeals to people not to donate to beggars but send them to corporations to work and earn with dignity.
  • According to a survey, there are about six thousand beggars in Banaras, out of which 1400 are children.
  • Whereas physically able beggars aged between 18 to 40 years living with family or children are also here.
  • By giving training to all of them for 3 months, apart from preparing cotton bags and other things, a campaign to start a shop for puja material and flowers will be started in a year.
