·        President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh, who has retired as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Governor of Uttarakhand, which fell vacant following the resignation of Baby Rani Maurya.

·        According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan release, President Ram Nath Kovind accepted Maurya's resignation and appointed Singh as the governor of the state.

Reshuffle of Governors:

v The President appointed Banwarilal Purohit, who is presently the Governor of Tamil Nadu, as the Governor of Punjab.

v Presently Nagaland Governor RN Ravi has been made the Governor of Tamil Nadu.

v Professor Jagdish Mukhi, the Governor of Assam, has been appointed to discharge the functions of the Governor of Nagaland in addition to his own duties until regular arrangements are made.

v The President's Office mentioned in an official release that the new appointments will be effective from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.
