President Droupadi Murmu has approved the Uniform Civil Code Uttarakhand Bill, 2024, making Uttarakhand the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
The approval from the President paves the way for the implementation of the UCC Act in Uttarakhand, once the state government issues the necessary notification.
Shailesh Bagauli, the secretary to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, confirmed the development, indicating that the bill's approval marks a significant milestone in the legal framework of Uttarakhand.
