Kamala Harris becomes the first Black and South Asian woman to win the Democratic presidential nomination, announced by Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison.
Harris secured 2,350 delegates through a five-day electronic vote, running unopposed with President Joe Biden's endorsement.
She will be officially nominated at a convention in Chicago and aims to be the first female president of the US if she wins against Republican nominee Donald Trump in November.
