The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is establishing a bioplastic park in Kumbhi village, Gola Gokarnnath tehsil, Lakhimpur Kheri district, spread over 1000 hectares with an estimated cost of Rs 2000 crore.
Bioplastics are biodegradable materials made from renewable sources like sunflower, corn, and sugarbeets, containing natural polymers from agricultural crops or starch waste.
They offer a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based plastics, which decompose slowly and contribute significantly to environmental pollution.
Bioplastics are increasingly used in agriculture, textiles, medicine, and packaging industries due to their biodegradable nature and potential to reduce environmental impact compared to conventional plastics.
