Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated India's 500th community radio station, 'Apna Radio 90.0 FM' in Aizawl, marking a significant achievement in the government's 'Act East' policy.
The 10th National Community Radio Awards announced winners in various categories, including 'Radio Mayur' from Bihar for 'Tek Sakhi', 'Radio Kochi' from Kerala for 'Nirangal' and 'Hello Doon' from Dehradun for 'Meri Baat'.
Secretary, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju emphasised on the role of Community Radio Stations in disseminating important information related to agriculture, farmer welfare, and local issues and providing a platform for alternative voices in regional languages.
