  • Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has inaugurated the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) in Silchar.
  • The hospital will also cover Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram along with three districts of Barak Valley and research on Unani treatment will be done in the hospital.
  • This is a first-of-its-kind institute on Unani medicine in the Northeast states.
  • The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), spread over an area of 3.5 acres, was built at an investment of Rs 48 crore.
