Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated TDK Corporation’s Advanced Lithium-ion Battery Manufacturing Plant in Sohna, Haryana. Built with an investment of ₹3,000 crore under the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) Scheme, the facility spans 180 acres and will produce 20 crore battery packs annually, meeting about 40% of India’s demand. The batteries will power mobiles, laptops, wearables and hearables, cutting import dependence and strengthening the domestic supply chain. The plant will create around 5,000 direct jobs, with production starting in Q4 2025 and scaling up in phases.
