Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the President's Colour to Haryana Police in recognition of its exceptional service, at the Haryana Police Academy at Madhuban.
The President’s Colour is the highest honour given to any military or police unit in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the nation.
The President had approved the award for Haryana Police.
A replica of the flag presented to the unit can be worn as an insignia by all officers and ranks of the force on their uniform.
At first, Uttar Pradesh Police received the award in 1952 from then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Later in 1954, the Delhi Police received the award from former president Rajendra Prasad. Maharashtra Police received the award in 1961 while Jammu and Kashmir Police received it in 2003.
Himachal Pradesh Police received the award in 2021 while Assam Police in 2022.
