  • The Union Cabinet has approved the centrally-sponsored "Vibrant Villages Programme" for financial years 2022-23 to 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs 4,800 crore.
  • Out of financial allocation of Rs. 4800 Crore 2500 crore rupees will be used for roads.
  • This decision also aims to encourage people to stay in their native locations in border areas, reversing outmigration from these regions and contributing to improved border security.
  • 663 villages will be included in the initiative in the first phase.
  • Gram Panchayats will assist the district administration in developing vibrant village action plans and 100 % saturation of Central and state schemes will be ensured.
