Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman increased the income tax exemption to Rs 12 lakh in the budget presented on February 1, 2025, which was earlier Rs 7 lakh. After this announcement of the government, now a person earning Rs 1 lakh per month will not have to pay tax.
Budget Estimates 2025-26: Total expenditure set at ₹50.65 lakh crore, net tax receipts at ₹28.37 lakh crore, and fiscal deficit at 4.4% of GDP.

MSME Credit Card: Customized Credit Cards with ₹5 lakh limit for micro enterprises registered on the Udyam portal.
Fund of Funds for Startups: ₹10,000 crore allocated to support and expand the startup ecosystem.
First-time Entrepreneurs Scheme: 5 lakh women, SC, and ST entrepreneurs to receive term loans up to ₹2 crore in the next 5 years.
Toy Sector Boost: New scheme launched to make India a global hub for toy manufacturing with innovative and sustainable designs.
Manufacturing Mission: National Manufacturing Mission launched to further "Make in India" across small, medium, and large industries.
