Visva-Bharati University, founded by Rabindranath Tagore in 1921, is set to become the world's first "living Heritage University".
The university is expected to receive the heritage tag from UNESCO in April or May 2023.
For the first time in the world, a living university which is functioning is going to get the heritage tag from UNESCO.
It is located in Shantiniketan, West Bengal, India.
When founded in 1921, it was named after Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore until Visva-Bharati Society was registered as an organization in May 1922.
UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) is a specialised agency of the United Nations that promotes cooperation among nations through education, science, culture, and communication.
