UNESCO has designated Bengal's world-renowned Durga Puja as a cultural heritage Status.
The United Nations' Cultural Unit (UNESCO) has declared that Bengal's Durga Puja has been included in the representative list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
This is Asia's first UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity festival.
There are three more festivals or carnivals in South America and Europe that have been designated as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Traditional yoga and the Kumbh Mela, respectively, received accolades in 2016 and 2017.
