United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has appointed Shombi Sharp of the United States as the UN Resident Coordinator in India with the host government's approval.
He will serve as a representative of the SG for development in the country.
He recently served as United Nations Resident Coordinator in Armenia.
One of the key roles of the Resident Coordinator is to ensure system-wide accountability on the ground and to coordinate UN support to countries in their implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
