Udaipur is known as the city of lakes.
As per the announcement of October 2023, Udaipur will become India's first wetland city.
This wetland will be created by the 'Environment and Forest Department' of Rajasthan.
Udaipur is surrounded by 5 major lakes namely – Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Rang Sagar, Swaroop Sagar and Doodh Talai.
It will be developed under the National Lake Conservation Plan.
Ramsar Convention is an international treaty.
This treaty has been made for the conservation of wetlands.
This treaty was signed in Ramsar, Iran in the year 1975.
