  • The State Government of Uttar Pradesh appointed Arvind Kumar (Retd. IAS) as the new Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) on July 14. 
  • With his new appointment as Chairman of UPERC, Kumar has replaced Raj Pratap Singh, who completed his term as the UPERC Chairman on June 30.
  • Kumar is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1988 batch. Previously, he was posted as Advisor to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for Industries. 
  • He played a pivotal role in organising 'The UP investors summit' in Lucknow.
  • Among other important roles, he served as Additional Chief Secretary in the Power Department till he was moved to the Industrial Development Department in February 2021. 
  • In May 2022, he was appointed the infrastructure and industrial development commissioner.
