The State Government of Uttar Pradesh appointed Arvind Kumar (Retd. IAS) as the new Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) on July 14.
With his new appointment as Chairman of UPERC, Kumar has replaced Raj Pratap Singh, who completed his term as the UPERC Chairman on June 30.
Kumar is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1988 batch. Previously, he was posted as Advisor to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for Industries.
He played a pivotal role in organising 'The UP investors summit' in Lucknow.
Among other important roles, he served as Additional Chief Secretary in the Power Department till he was moved to the Industrial Development Department in February 2021.
In May 2022, he was appointed the infrastructure and industrial development commissioner.
