Daily Current Affairs / Trump Administration to Double U.S. Financial Aid for Argentina to $40 Billion
Category : International Published on: October 18 2025
The Trump administration plans to boost U.S. financial support for Argentina to $40 billion by creating a new $20 billion facility with contributions from private banks and sovereign wealth funds. This move complements an earlier $20 billion U.S. Treasury swap line aimed at stabilizing the Argentine peso. Major U.S. banks like JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and Citigroup are in talks to structure the deal. President Trump and Argentine President Javier Milei discussed the plan at the White House. However, Trump warned that the aid may be withdrawn if Milei’s party loses the October 26 elections.
