  • The Tripura Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI) and the North East Centre of Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) claimed to have created the country's first-ever bamboo-made cricket bat while adhering to all standard manufacturing protocols.
  • Officials have stated that these bats can be used in all formats of cricket and that they are awaiting feedback from professionals to add value.
  • This bat is made using tough "boom (local name)" bamboo.
  • At the same time, bamboo wickets have been also designed from "Kanakaich (a local variety of bamboo).
