  • The school education department of Tripura has recently introduced a free 'School Boat' service to transport underprivileged students residing on the islands of Dumbur Lake in the Gumati district to their schools.
  • The service has been opened for students living around the islands of Dumbur Lake in the Gumati district.
  • The new service comes as a sigh of relief for students of the island who face difficulty in going to their schools every day with no means to pay for the boat fare.
  • Approximately 120 km away from the capital city Agartala, the Dumbur Lake is surrounded by 48 islands, and is one of the primary sources of income for people living in its vicinity.
