The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has formally recognized Deendayal Port Authority (Gujarat), V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (Tamil Nadu) and Paradip Port Authority (Odisha) as Green Hydrogen Hubs under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This designation is a significant step towards establishing an integrated hydrogen ecosystem in India and accelerating the country’s transition to clean energy. These ports will serve as strategic centers for large-scale production, storage and distribution of green hydrogen, fostering industrial participation, technological innovation and investment in clean fuel technologies. Ports are ideal for hydrogen hubs due to their heavy energy usage, direct links to industrial and maritime sectors, and gateway function for trade. By becoming recognized hubs, these ports will gain access to various incentives under central and state government schemes, facilitating cluster-based development and infrastructure convergence.
