  • The Paralympic Games begin in Paris on August 28 with 84 athletes from India to take part. The Games will be held from August 28 to September 8. 
  • This is the first time that a maximum of 47 Indian athletes will participate in these games. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that there are 50 players in this contingent who have received training under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme. 
  • In the last Paralympic Games held in Tokyo, Indian players performed brilliantly and won 19 medals.
