  • Recently, the state cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu has approved the formation of 'Special Tiger Protection Force'.
  • This special tiger protection force will protect the 3 tiger reserves of the state.
  • These are 3 tiger reserves – Namdapha, Pakke and Kamlang.
  • According to the National Tiger Census of 2022, there are a total of 9 tigers in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • The force will consist of one company of 112 personnel each for three tiger reserves, and each company will be divided into three platoons and 18 sections.
  • This step will provide effective protection to tigers and their habitats and promote conservation of wildlife habitats.
