  • The conference of the World Organization for Animal Health's Regional Commission for the Asia-Pacific region is being held from 13 to 16 November.
  • This conference is being organized in New Delhi.
  • This is the 33rd summit of this regional commission.
  • The conference was inaugurated by Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala.
  • Representatives from 36 member countries including India, senior officials from regional and international organizations and representatives of the private sector and private veterinary organizations from the region are attending the conference organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
  • During this period, there will be an important discussion among scientists to assess the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the risks to humans, animals and the environment.
  • The conference will focus on the need to enhance the resilience and capacity of veterinary services to meet future challenges.
  • The World Animal Health Organization was established in the year 1924.
  • It received its present name in the year 2003.
  • Its headquarters is located in Paris.
