  • The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati director TG Sitharam has been appointed as the new chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). 
  • Prof Sitharam will take the charge from Jagadesh Kumar, who was holding interim charge of the AICTE chairman post since last year.
  • Professor Sitharam is a member of Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. 
  • He has been serving as the IIT Guwahati Director and a Senior Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and served IISc for more than 27 years.
  • Prior to this, Sitharam was the founder-chairman of the Centre for Infrastructure, Sustainable Transport and Urban Planning (CiSTUP) at IISc, Bengaluru.
