  • 'National Handloom Day' is celebrated on 7th August every year since 2015 to create awareness about the importance of the handloom industry and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the country. 
  • The 'VIRAASAT' handloom exhibition, celebrating the 10th National Handloom Day, commenced on August 3, 2024, at Handloom Haat, Janpath, and will continue till August 16, organized by NHDC under the Ministry of Textiles.
  • This year Handloom Day will be celebrated by Weavers Service Centres (WSCs) in 75 major handloom clusters/pockets with promotional activities on handloom in the presence of local MPs, MLAs, designers, awardees, weavers, and other stakeholders. 
  • The main objective is to promote handlooms, support handloom sector, and bring pride to handloom weavers.
