  • The Telangana government has begun rehabilitation and relocation of tribal families living inside Amrabad Tiger Reserve to balance wildlife conservation with tribal development. Located in the Nallamala hills of the Eastern Ghats, Amrabad is a critical tiger habitat that was part of the larger Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve before state bifurcation.
  • The reserve features rugged terrain, dry deciduous forests with sal, teak and bamboo, and rich biodiversity including leopards, sambar, chital, gaur, and over 300 bird species. The Chenchu tribe, a major indigenous community in the area, has traditionally depended on the forest. The move aims to reduce human-wildlife conflict while supporting sustainable livelihoods for relocated families.
