The Tamil Nadu government has launched the "Meendum Manjappai Scheme" to encourage people to adopt cloth bags instead of plastic bags.
The campaign is being organised by the state pollution control board. The campaign's goal is to reduce single-use plastic, which harms the environment.
The Tamil Nadu government has already prohibited the use of 14 different types of plastics.
