  • Sweden has become the 32nd member of NATO after completing official procedures in Washington. With this, Sweden, which has been non-aligned for nearly two decades, has joined the NATO bloc.
  • Sweden applied to join the NATO military alliance in February 2022 after the war between Russia and Ukraine began, which was accepted yesterday after two years. 
  • NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said NATO has been strengthened by Sweden's armed forces and the first tier defence industry.
