  • Suryakumar Yadav created history on November 6 as he became the first Indian batter to complete 1000 runs in T20Is in a calendar year. 
  • The 32-year-old right-handed batter achieved the milestone against Zimbabwe during Team India’s final Super 12 match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
  • He has now joined Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan on the elite list of batters who have scored more than 1000 T20I runs in a calendar year. 
  • Rizwan, who has 924 runs in 23 T20Is this year, scored a total of 1326 runs in 29 matches in 2021.
  • Surya is only the second player in T20I history to have scored more than 1000 runs in one calendar year
  • He has played a total of 39 T20I matches in total for India, in which he has scored 1270 runs.
