  • Surekha Yadav became the first woman loco pilot to run 'Vande Bharat'.
  • She operated Solapur to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal (CSMT) in Maharashtra Vande Bharat Express.
  • Yadav is the first female who became a locomotive pilot in Asia. 
  • For her achievements, Surekha also earned praise from Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
  • Furthermore, Surekha a native of Satara in Maharashtra was the country's first female train driver. 
  • She started her career in 1988. Also, she has received numerous honours at both the state and national levels.
  • Earlier in February, PM Modi flagged off the CSMT-Solapur Vande Bharat Express.
