Chief Justice of India Surya Kant stated on January 5, 2026, that the Supreme Court of India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the apex court of Bhutan to enable the exchange of young legal professionals.
At the beginning of court proceedings, the CJI explained that under the MoU, two law clerks from Bhutan will work with the Supreme Court of India for a three-month period. The initiative seeks to strengthen judicial cooperation and deepen institutional ties between India and Bhutan.
