  • Chief Justice of India Surya Kant stated on January 5, 2026, that the Supreme Court of India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the apex court of Bhutan to enable the exchange of young legal professionals.
  • At the beginning of court proceedings, the CJI explained that under the MoU, two law clerks from Bhutan will work with the Supreme Court of India for a three-month period. The initiative seeks to strengthen judicial cooperation and deepen institutional ties between India and Bhutan.
