  • India's 27-year-old para powerlifter Sudhir clinched gold medal in the men's heavyweight category, taking India's medal tally at CWG 2022 to 20.
  • He defeated Nigeria's Ikechukwu Obichukwu by 0.9 points as his final score read a Games record 134.5 points for the gold.
  • It is India's first-ever gold medal in para powerlifting in the history of CWG. 
  • Sudhir had a best lift of 212 kg and he finished with 134.5 points in the final, setting a CWG record.
  • So far, India have won 20 medals, which include 6 Gold, 7 Silver, and 7 Bronze.
