Sudarsan Pattnaik, renowned Indian sand artist, won the Golden Sand Master Award and a gold medal at the International Sand Sculpture Championship in St. Petersburg, Russia, held from July 4 to July 12, 2024.
Pattnaik's winning sculpture was a 12-foot-high depiction of Mahaprabhu Jagannath's chariot, accompanied by his devotee and poet Balaram Das, highlighting significant historical and cultural themes.
Sudarsan Pattnaik, previously awarded the Padma Shri in 2014, has a history of international recognition, including the People’s Choice Award at the Sand Sculpting World Cup 2014 and the Italian Sand Art Award in 2019.
