NASA awarded SpaceX the contract to develop a US Deorbit Vehicle to safely bring the ISS out of orbit by 2030, directing its reentry to Point Nemo in the Pacific Ocean.
The ISS, operational since 2000 and weighing approximately 430,000 kilograms, will undergo a controlled deorbiting process to ensure a safe transition at the end of its operational life.
