  • As per as novel report by Bloomberg South Korea breaks its own record for the world’s lowest fertility rate.
  • According to 2021 data, Korean women were estimated to have an average of just 0.81 children over their lifetimes, down from 0.84 a year earlier. 
  • The number of newborns also dropped last year to 260,600 which is about 0.5 percent of the population.
  • According to United Nations global population projections and World Bank data, South Korea is one of the world’s fastest-ageing nations among economies with per-capita GDP of at least $30,000.
