  • Sony Pictures Networks India has appointed Gaurav Banerjee, a former Disney executive, as its new Managing Director and CEO, effective from on or before August 26, pending regulatory approvals.
  • He will succeed N. P. Singh, who transitions to Non-Executive Chairman after a 25-year tenure.
  • Gaurav Banerjee holds a Master’s degree in filmmaking and TV production from Jamia Millia Islamia University. 
  • He has a strong foundation in media, starting as a journalist and later serving in key roles at Star India, including head of content for Hindi entertainment and Disney+ Hotstar.
  • Starting as an assistant producer and anchor at Aaj Tak, Banerjee's journey in media evolved through Star News, where he anchored prime-time news shows before transitioning to content strategy roles at Star India.
